7 of 8 Emerging Elites athletes race to PR's
at MIAA All-State Championships!
The Emerging Elites coaches & staff would like to congratulate the 8 Emerging Elites athletes who competed at the MIAA All State Track & Field Outdoor Championships at Fitchburg State University. After two weather delays that moved the meet from Saturday to Monday and then to Tuesday, it was finally time to race under cloudy and cool skies! The weather cooperated and the racing did not disappoint!
As coaches, it is highly rewarding to see the Emerging Elites athletes excel at the highest levels of the sport. Championship racing is about beating as many competitors as possible, not chasing times. If the race develops at an honest pace, the fast times will be a byproduct of the racing.
For the most part today, we witnessed intelligent and savvy racing that resulted in Emerging Elites athletes racing to personal bests. During the competitive season, we talk about athletes needing to place themselves into an opportunity to succeed- getting into the race, not losing focus, staying aware of their surroundings, etc. We saw all of this today!
Special congratulations to Weston senior Olivia Brackett on breaking her own Weston High School record and dipping under 11 minutes for the first time!
The Emerging Elites team has posted ~100 photos from the All-State meet! View them here: http://tiny.cc/allstate-12-photos
