NewsOctober 26, 2006 – GOOD ATHLETES TRAVEL FAST Through both unpredictable weather and health conditions, the Emerging Elites have continued to keep their engines in gear. While the High Performance Group has been setting the standard for the state in the sport of cross-country running, the Developmental Athletes are transforming into better athletes each day while unveiling their passion for running. We are now entering the most challenging part of the season with the best performances yet to come!
High Performance Athletes:Christine Meagher, Fontbonne Academy
Any doubts of Chrissy’s ability and stamina have been put to rest this season as she continues to excel in her running while working through illness. She placed first at the highly competitive Catholic Conference League Meet despite a respiratory and sinus infection, a true testament to her strength and dedication as an athlete. Next stops for her in the coming weeks will be the MSTCA Invitational and the Eastern Massachusetts sectionals, where her competitive times will surely bring her continued success. Caroline O’Loughlin, Boston Latin School
Despite the setback of an ankle injury, Caroline could not resist her passion to run. She represented her team and Boston Latin exceptionally, placing first in her meets against Weston and Acton-Boxborough. Samantha Chase, Dana Hall School
Mark Amirault, Xaverian Brothers
Mark is continuing his winning streak with another 1st place finish against Malden Catholic. He has been a leader on the course as he flies past the competition and leaves his younger successors in awe.
Developmental Program Athletes:John Fisher, Xaverian Brothers
The future is bright for Xaverian as the young brothers work hard together, improving each week. John has demonstrated his determination, proving he will not quit. He placed 85th at the Manhattan Invitational with a strong time of 14:14 and placed 11th overall against St. John’s Prep in 17:33. Peter Dolan, Xaverian Brothers
Peter has continued to demonstrate his versatility as an athlete. This young runner has continued to succeed on the course and has proven his ability to excel in the future as a sturdy competitor. John Bleday, Xaverian Brothers
Our young runners have not only represented themselves well across Massachusetts, but also have demonstrated their abilities across the region. John Bleday placed first in the freshmen races in his school meet against Malden Catholic as well as at the Manhattan Invitational. Joyce’s passion for running and dedication to fitness causes her to standout among her team and the Emerging Elites group. She has continued to be a staple at Emerging Elites weekly workouts and looks forward to improving her times further in the upcoming meets leading to the ISL’s. The newest member of the Emerging Elites program does not want to be missed. Only a sophomore at Nobles & Greenough, Jenny is an integral part of her team and stands out on the course. Each week she grows more as an athlete, improving her personal records and mastering each new course. Kaitryn Power, Fontbonne Academy
Kaitryn continues to work hard during the middle of the season, constantly improving her running times. She has dramatically improved her time by dropping one minute and 20 seconds since the start of the season. Her performance at the Catholic Conference League meet placed her 10th overall and 2nd on her team. |
